Egypt is in a big crisis these days. The Egyptian nationalist, unhappy with the long dictatorship rule of the president, are in full swing to over throw the government. Due to this widespread anger of the people, the government had blocked telephone and internet services in Egypt.
Spam level from Egypt has almost vanished. The authorities have managed to take total control over the internet services since last Thursday. Although according to some reports the Noor Group ISP is still online, probably because it hosts the Egyptian Stock Exchange, all of the major service providers were ordered to cut their services at around midnight on Thursday.
Senior technology consultant at Sophos, Graham Cluley, explained in a blog post the effect of this on spam levels in the country. “According to our statistics, the amount of spam received from Egypt in the last two days has dropped by 85 per cent,” he said. The spam figures have been dropped globally as reported by some security vendors. And with Egypt addition, we can think of less spam for a little period of time!
